Oh, Whale

Whale, would you look at that! Here I am just back from the National Aquarium in Baltimore and today’s project features… a whale. Of course, there isn’t a whale at the Aquarium, but I’m just channeling sea creatures right now.

Oh, Whale

is unfortunately retired, but I was still able to spruce these cards up with a couple of new products. Check them out:

Oh, Whale

Aren’t they just the cutest? They’re 3 x 3 inch cards, ready to be tucked into a little gift for two babies coming in June. One of my oldest daughter’s high school friends is having her first child, a baby boy. My niece is expecting her second child, a little girl. She already has a super cute little boy named Henry. (If you scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page where there are related posts you’ll see his little face)!

So how did I make something old new again? Here’s how:

  • I used Wink of Stella on the blue whale card by coloring in his water droplets and the little star.
  • On the pink card, I used Powder Pink cardstock and ink, Sweet Sugarplum ink, and a background stamp from the Touches of Texture stamp set.
  • I lined the Powder Pink card with a piece of the new Fresh Florals Designer Series Paper.

Okay, you got me, the Tempting Turquoise whale doesn’t have much new,  but he’s still adorable!

Another retired product used was the 3 x 3 envelope liner framelit. I really wish Stampin’ Up! hadn’t discontinued the liner framelits – they really make any envelope fancy-looking!

Oh, Whale

Powder Pink is growing on me – my favorite pink is still Pink Pirouette, but I like the fact that the Powder Pink seems to play nicely with so many of our other colors.

Now that the gift cards are done, whale, there’s one thing left to do: go shopping for some baby stuff (one of my favorite things to do in the whole world)!

Okay, I’ve done my part. Now you go out there and do something creative today!
