Pocket Letters are a thing…
For the longest time I have been wanting to make a Pocket Letter™ (yes, it’s trade marked. I checked.), and because this is my daughter’s first Mother’s Day, I decided to take the plunge. Here’s what I came up with:
(Sorry for the shiny spots – but that’s what a flash does to plastic)! Timeless Elegance Designer Series Paper has been my favorite of all the designer papers in the Annual Catalog. So I pulled it out once again to use for this project. Making the “letter” is actually very simple. Here’s what you do:
- get yourself some pocket pages that are 8½” by 11″ and have a total of nine equally sized pockets. You can find them almost anywhere (craft stores, office supply stores, Walmart, etc.).
- Fill your pockets!
Really, it’s that simple!
Of course, figuring out what to put in them can be a bit of a challenge. In the middle pocket of the first and third rows I made a gift card envelope and stuck in a gift card, which I then put in the pocket.
- All of the embellishments that you see are on the outside of each pocket – ’cause I figured that even if all the papers fell out there would still be some pretty left behind. 😉
- I colored the roses of the designer paper with my ink pads and an aqua pen
- Punches were my go-to! I used the Banner Triple punch, the Bitty Butterfly, Bracket Label, Bow Builder, and the Curvy Corner Trio. Can you tell which ones are which?
- I stole the black card stock tags from the My Paper Pumpkin wreath kit for April. Hey, they were left over, so why not?
- My sparkles were the Pearls Basic Jewels (on the roses) and some Metallic Sequins that I sealed in the pockets with washi tape.
- Stamps used: Circle of Spring, Tag Talk, Timeless Love, Papillon Potpourri, and Cottage Greetings on the envelope.
And the great thing is that you can then fold up the page in thirds and put it in a #10 envelope to mail! Just like that! Here’s my envelope:
Give it a try – these are addictive!
What a great way to honor your daughter’s first Mother’s Day, Amy! I am sure she will treasure this!
This is LOVELY! I so appreciate the instructions as I have been wondering about the Pocket Letters everyone is talking about.
Amy, I am going to have to come back and study this… thanks for sharing.
I absolutely adore this technique and your lovely cards. What a masterpiece… it needs to be displayed in a shadow box! Beautiful!
Glad to see you back on the hop! Love the idea of the pocket page protectors.
