This Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge (211) has me feeling a bit sentimental…
Today’s challenge is to use the following colors in a project:
So I went to my stamp stash to see which of my newest ones I felt drawn to for this challenge. I kind of surprised myself, because the set I picked is Traveler:
While I was looking at the images, I suddenly heard a song playing in my head, “Get Here,” by Brenda Russell. I guess I was thinking about my kids and how I wish they lived closer to us – not that I’m not so very proud of them, who they are, what they’ve accomplished, etc., but I’m a mom – I just want my babies around me, what can I say! The inside of the card reads: “If I had my way surely you would be closer.” So here’s my take on the pals paper arts color challenge 211 for today:
If you like the look of the faux rustic background, it’s actually the floor of my back porch which desperately needs to be sanded and repainted! 😉 But I liked the way it looked, so I didn’t crop it out.
If you don’t know the song, I highly recommend you Google it and take a listen – it’s been covered by other artists, including Oleta Adams (whose version is my fave). Here is the song in its entirety:
You can reach me by railway
You can reach me by trailway
You can reach me on an airplane
You can reach me with your mind
You can reach me by caravan
Cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here
Just get here if you can
You can reach me by sailboat
Climb a tree and swing rope to rope
Take a sled and slide down a slope
Into these arms of mine
You can jump on a speedy colt
Cross the border in a blaze of hope
I don’t care how you get here
Just get here if you can
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
But if I had my way
Surely you would be closer
I need you closer
There are hills and mountains between us
Always something to get over
But if I had my way
Surely you would be closer
And I need you closer
You can windsurf into my life
Take me up on a carpet ride
You can make it in a big balloon
But you better make it soon
You can reach me by caravan
Cross the desert like an Arab man
I don’t care how you get here
Just get here if you can
I don’t care, I don’t care
I want you to get here
I don’t care how you get here
I need you, right here, right now
I need you closer, closer
I can’t wait another day
No more, no more, no more
I need you right here, right now
Right here, right now
Right here, right now
Ooh, I need, I need
I want you to get here
I need you to get here
