A Look at Oversize Cards

Have you ever made a 5X7 card?

I don’t think I’ve made an oversize card in a very long time. So today I sat down to make a couple, using a new Designer Series Paper from Stampin’ Up! called Lullaby. It’s not just for babies, really! In this Congratulations card I colored in the flower with the Coastal Cabana Blendabilities. A product which will eventually be recalled and return as Stampin’ Blends.

For the following card I decided to use some dry embossing and some little circle punches. Of course, I’m not sure how practical it was to emboss the inside of the card, since it makes it difficult to write on. But I love that I was able to line up all those little tiny vertical lines! Who cares about the sentiment, just marvel at the creation, LOL!

Please take a moment to add a comment – I’d love to know what you think! And I’d also love to see what you’ve come up with!

  1. Love the “Hello” card. The textures, the arrows, the colors all work so nice together.

  2. Wonderful designs….love your colors and designs!!! Look forward to seeing more of your creations in future blog hops!

  3. What a great job for your first blog hop Amy!! Both cards are great, and I love that you have shown us new ideas of things we can do. The scoring at 1/4″ is beautiful, and I love the letters in the little circles. Thank you for such a great post!

    1. I appreciate you taking time to comment, Peggy. I love that rotary alphabet stamp!

  4. Great cards! I especially love the 2nd card; the way the arrows draw your eye to the sentiment! And I love the little fold-over corners; so clever!

  5. Love your details. Second card could be very “manly” but doesn’t have to be!

  6. I love both of these cards (and agree that Lullaby paper is perfect for many things!). Your scored card just knocked my socks off, though! So very crisp and clean….all the elements and different geometrics came together perfectly!

    1. Thanks, Terri! Here’s to serendipity; it all came together at the right time! Or as my husband says, even the blind monkey gets the banana once in awhile! (No offense to monkeys).

  7. Amy… great job! You’re now a veteran Pals Hopper. Fantastic projects too. Thank you for joining us.

    1. Thanks, Rae! And I appreciate all your hard work to set this up every time.

  8. Love the cards, Amy. But, I must say your photography is fantastic! Great job with the blog hop!

    1. Oh, my gosh, Katy, if you knew how I struggled! Just my camera phone and heavy editing in Picasa! Thank you!

    1. Thanks, Dawn. Picture me with two arms raised, yelling “touchdown!” 😉

  9. I think your color and texture combos are spot on, and are a springboard for many creative endeavors!

  10. Wow! Such design talent you have! I am nearly speechless as I look at your 2nd card, especially. You need to share your work even more:)
