You probably don’t think that a set of stamps called Dragonfly Dreams can lend itself to making a sympathy card, but I think I found just the right touch here by using the dragonfly on a soft water-colored background.
I used the Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack for the background. Again, probably not a color group you think of for this kind of card. I put a piece of the Playful Palette Washi tape across the bottom just for some fun color. But I really enjoyed using the new watercolor pencils to create my background. I just lightly penciled three colors in swatches down the paper and then used the aqua painter to blend them all together.
Yes, Virginia, these Dragonfly Dreams succeeded!
I sent this card to one of my daughter’s friends who recently lost her grandfather. This friend’s mother is a professional artist, and her mother commented on the background by asking “where did she get the water-colored paper background?” Score one for Stampin’ Up!, the pencils, and some H2O! I love when a plan comes together, haha!
Until next time, stay crafty, my friends! Amy
Beautiful card, Amy! And too funny on the paper comment.
Thanks, Michelle!
