Playing with Color Combos

Do you struggle with color combos? I know I do.  I’m never quite sure what goes with what, and the color wheel just makes my head spin.  I’m hopeless when it comes to matching things off the top of my head.

But the other day I got a new Spellbinders die and I thought, what can I do to make this stand out? I knew I wanted to use Pacific Point ink, although I’m not sure why.  And I don’t usually use orange tones, but our Calypso Coral was doing its best to get my attention! And who doesn’t love the brightness of Daffodil Delight? (Yeah, I know, people who don’t like yellow)… In desperation for one more color, I thumbed through my notebook of 8½ x 11 Stampin’ Up! card stock and came across a few random sheets of Certainly Celery, which was retired a couple of years back.

I also knew going in that I wanted to have whatever sentiment I was using appear in a circle, so the next thing I did was go through my book of Stampin’ Up! images to see what I could use, and came across Chalk Talk. Perfect!

Here is the end result of my color combos soul-searching!

Color combos with Stampin' Up! card stock and Spellbinders chevron die.

I recently noticed that my camera doesn’t exactly pick up my card stock colors correctly, so in reality, the blue actually has a bit more teal to it; but you get the general idea! I like the way the colors are so vibrant in relation to each other. Definitely out of my comfort zone, since I adore pastels!!
