Pals Blog Hop March 2017 – Spring Has Sprung

Pals Blog Hop March 2017Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for March 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are featuring Spring or Spring-related projects. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may be just starting the Blog Hop with me or maybe you’ve just come from Debbie Crowley.  The full lineup is shown below and it will help you move along from blog to blog so you can see all the projects.

Sometimes when a new catalog comes out (I’m talking to you, Occasions 2017) or a new sale comes along (don’t think I didn’t notice you either, Sale-a-Bration) we forget that we have a year-long companion, the Annual Catalog. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love a new catty (#boughtthewholething) and who doesn’t love free (#gotduplicatesofeverySABfreebie), but once in a while it’s good to go back to the future.

Spring has sprung

Well, at least, I’m going to pretend that it has. And for my project I went through the AC (that’s Annual Catalog, for the uninitiated) and rediscovered Circle of Spring:

Pals Blog Hop 2017 #thejurassiccrafter #craftcarnivore #stampinup #circleofspring

My inspiration for this little beauty comes from a design by a fellow demo in the Netherlands, Ingrid Oudijk. Just thought it was too cute! Her projects are awesome but I have no idea what she is talking about on her page, though. I do not speak Dutch. Not a word. But hey, I can still look at the pictures. And a picture, as you know, can speak a thousand words. (But still, in Dutch).

Okay, Peeps, move along now. Time flies like an arrow and fruit flies like a banana. Enjoy the rest of the Hop and the rest of your day.

~ Amy, the Jurassic Crafter

Pals’ Blog Hop February 2017 Catalog CASE

Pals Blog Hop February 2017 Amy Hoptay, the Jurassic Crafter, CraftCarnivore.comWelcome to the Pals Blog Hop for February 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month we are CASE’ing a project shown in a current Stampin’ Up! catalog. After all, with the Annual, Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs available right now, there is much inspiration from which to choose. We hope you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

What on earth is CASE?

I’m so glad you asked! While there are many interpretations of CASE, the one I live by is Copy And Share Everything. For today’s project I decided to CASE a card I found in the Sale-a-Bration catalog. Sale a who? Well, once a year Stampin’ Up! spoils us all by giving us FREE product for every $50 we spend. Oh, and it’s cumulative, meaning that if you spend $100, you get two free items. This most happy time of year is called Sale-a-Bration. The products you chose from are in a special catalog that is only available from January 4 through March 31. Guess what, Stampin’ Up! is adding three more fabulous items for you to choose from on February 21! Yay!

Pals Blog Hop February 2017 Amy Hoptay, the Jurassic Crafter, CraftCarnivore.com

I really love this FREE stamp set called Avant Garden. It is so delicate and so versatile. I used Peekaboo Peach for the flowers, stamping once with regular inking and then by stamping off a couple of times. LOVE Peekaboo Peach! You can find this and many other amazing products by shopping at my online store.Click HERE to go check it out.

No witty repartee this time, my friends. I’m under the effects of a head cold and my brain is like cotton. Umm, maybe more like polyester and spandex that got washed and dried too many times. Until next time – stay crafty, my friends!

This Pals’ Blog Hop is from the Heart

Welcome to the Pals’ Blog Hop for January 2017. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our 2017 Blog Hop monthly themes. This month our projects showcase themes that are From the Heart. This includes any of the following themes… Valentine’s Day, Thinking of You, Get Well and/or Sympathy. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from Beth McCullough at Stamping Mom, number 3 in the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below. The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Roses are red, violets are blue, have I got a Suite looking card just for you!

Pals Blog Hop January 2017Folks, just go with it. You know it’s gonna happen, so just smile (cringe) and move on! 😉

So back to the Hop: I went head over heels for the Sending Love Suite in the new Occasions catalog. Have you looked at it yet? WHAT? I can’t hear you … OK, phew! I’m glad you’re with me. That puppy is packed full with some truly amazing products, don’t you think? (Nod your head).

That being the case, I loaded up my card with as many of these Suite products as I had on hand. I adore the teeny tiny envelopes. I am gaga for the thinlits that cut out the teeny tiny inserts for the teeny tiny envelopes.

Can you tell that I used the new Falling Petals embossing folder as a stamp to make the little white hearts falling on the card front?

Don’t you love how you can manipulate our photopolymer stamps to do things like make a curved line of teeny hearts out of a straight stamp?

And yes, good people, you may rejoice. The Stitched Shapes Framelits will once again be available to order (give a rebel yell)! That’s one of the circle ones on my card.

So, from the heart comes my wish for you:

As you slide down the banisters of life may the splinters never point the wrong way.

Until next time, stay thirsty, my friends! Amy

Pals Blog Hop December 2016 Sparkles and Shines

Pals Blog Hop December 2016Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for December 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects showcase products that can add sparkle and/or shine for a finishing touch. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and that you enjoy our creations.

You may just be starting the Blog Hop or may have come from the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing, Nicole Watt.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you may see all the projects.

Who doesn’t love a little glitz and glamour?

If you raised your hand, you’re excused. Seriously? How can you not love a little sparkle and shine, especially at this time of year.

Oh, Scrap!

Ya know, you can hold on to all those teeny tiny little pieces of paper you have left from all that Designer Series Paper, or you can take those little gremlins and turn them into tags. You can even, if you happen to be a hoarder like me (and I say that with pride), you can even use those little snippets of ribbon you have saved in a big plastic bag. Yes, Virginia, we can save all those things and still come out smelling like a rose.

Pals Blog Hop December 2016

So I had all these pieces parts of Candy Cane Lane DSP lying around and decided to use them up by making some gift tags. And I couldn’t resist using the Cookie Cutter Christmas bundle to make them. But when I got done, they all looked just so sad and dreary.

Glimmer Paper to the rescue!

Dazzling Diamonds? Got it. Glimmer Red? Well, yeah, you got me there. It’s retired. But hey, I’m using up those scraps, so just go with it.

Pals Blog Hop December 2016

Rudolph really does have a shiny nose now. Yay!

Pals Blog Hop December 2016

See that smile on the gingerbread man? Well, trust me, until he got that bow tie upgrade that smile was a FROWN! Everybody looks happier with a little bit of sparkle. Don’t we all?

That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. Have a very happy Christmas and a joyous New Year, my friends!

Amy

I’m Feeling Grateful So I Have a Special Bonus Just for YOU!

Grateful | Thankful | Blessed

These are the feelings I am feeling right now as we approach the Thanksgiving holiday. And I’m grateful for the sentiment from the Paisleys and Posies stamp set, because it expresses my feelings completely.

We have so many reasons to be grateful – and yours may be different from mine, but still, it’s true. I’ll let you in on a secret – probably I am most grateful for my beautiful grandson, who is about to turn one. It is such a simple joy to watch him grow and develop. (Okay, okay, I confess, it’s also a joy to get to shop for him; I am, after all, his grandmother)!

Grateful and a special bonus just for YOU! http://craftcarnivore.com

So in the spirit of gratitude, I have a special BONUS offer for all of you – from November 15 through December 15, any order of $30 or more will get a FREE pack of four handcrafted cards, with envelopes, ready for you to send off to your besties! Orders are limited to the US, per Stampin’ Up! regulations. Orders cannot be combined. Card packs will be selected at random and will be sent to the address on file with your order.

The holiday catalog will only be available through January 4, 2017, so if you have something special on your wish list don’t forget to order now! And coincidentally, Stampin’ Up! is offering these beautiful Stitched Shapes framelits from now until November 30 for, you guess it, $30!

Grateful and a bonus for YOU! http://craftcarnivore.com

Oh, and I forget to mention, there are several stamp sets on sale as well! For 25% off, no less! So everybody wins!

Now don’t forget to mark your calendars! Grateful Bonus gets you a 4 pack of handcrafted cards and envelopes with a $30 order, as well as a couple of great sales from Stampin’ Up!

Till next time, stay thirsty, my friends!

Anything But a Card Pals Blog Hop November 2016

Pals Blog Hop November 2016Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop for November 2016. We are thankful you stopped by to take a look at our new 2016 Blog Hop monthly themes.  This month our projects feature items that are considered 3D, Home Décor, or Gift Sets. We hope to provide you with lots of ideas and hope you enjoy our creations.

You might just be starting the Blog Hop or you might have come from Sue Becker at RnR Stamping, the previous link from the Line-up on the Pals Blog Hop listing shown below.  The full lineup will help you move along from blog to blog so you can see all the projects.

I just got back from Atlanta, Georgia where I had the good fortune to attend Stampin’ Up! OnStage and Brian King’s World Card Making Day event. I got to meet lots of new people and many Facebook friends, too.  I also got to witness my direct upline, Mary Fish, being named the #1 Demonstrator in the US and the #1 Global Demonstrator! Congrats, Mary! Love you more than my luggage!

While I was there I also had a few of my burning questions answered:

  • How tall is Brian King? VERY tall. Beyond measurement, really.
  • Mary Fish can jump REALLY high. I mean, higher than kangaroo high.
  • Sometimes it does take the bartender more than one try to make me the perfect Dirty Martini.
  • It is indeed possible to clap so hard that you bruise your palms.
  • Yes, this here Yankee could teach the Southern gals at my table a few new tricks! Y’all come back now, y’hear? And finally,
  • Whether they’re five or sixty-five, a good chunk of your audience will FAIL at following directions! And at listening for said directions!  😉

Here’s my anything but a card

One of the events of World Card Making Day was a 3D swap. I decided to make a shadow box.  I actually wound up making about five of them. One of them was successful (guess which one that was, one through four don’t count), and it is so sparkly that no matter how I took the picture it’s really hard to see the fine details!

Pals Blog Hop November 2016 3D Swap by Amy Hoptay, the Jurassic Crafter, craftcarnivore.com

Here’s another look, this time from the table where all the swaps were laid out, and where you can at least make out the detail!

Pals Blog Hop November 2016 3D Swap by Amy Hoptay, the Jurassic Crafter, craftcarnivore.com

This shadow box is made completely from a 12 x 12 piece of Dazzling Diamonds glitter paper. You can purchase the tutorial by clicking on the banner up above that says “Tutorials” – and it’s only $5 for the eleven (count ’em) 11 page instructions!

I leave you now with some words of wisdom. So until next time, stay thirsty, my friends! ~ Amy

A Thoughtful Black and Red for a Loved One Lost

Black and Red

**This post is one of several deleted by my web host (don’t use Arvixe) when they migrated my servers back at the beginning of October. And now, unfortunately, the Thoughtful Branches bundle is gone. Sad face. But if you did get your hands on one, Bravo! So here is the post in its original format:

Black and red. Le Rouge et le Noir. The former is a color combination of which my late stepmother was particularly fond. The  latter is its french translation, as well as being the title of a classic work of French literature by Stendhal (the pen name of Marie-Henri Beyle, 1783-1842).

One can acquire everything in solitude except character ~ Stendhal

Now, you’re probably asking yourself, what the heck does that have to do with crafting? My stepmother lived in France for a while and traveled there frequently and loved reading French novels.  So I was remembering her with fondness the other day and decided to put those thoughts into a card that I might have sent to her.

Black and Red for you, Steph!Thoughtful Branches Black and Red | Amy Hoptay the Jurassic Crafter | visit me at CraftCarnivore.com

She was a trip, my Stepmother, that’s for sure.  But she was a lot of fun and I miss her. Plus, she thought I was hilarious, so there’s that.

But if you’re still trying to decide whether or not to get the Thoughtful Branches bundle, remember this:

Thoughtful Branches Black and Red | Amy Hoptay the Jurassic Crafter | visit me at CraftCarnivore.com

The Thoughtful Branches bundle is a limited edition and once it’s gone, it’s gone for good (and it’s almost gone). It’s versatile, has lots of useful sentiments, and the trees are appropriate for every season.  ETA: So sorry – it is now sold out!

Until next time, stay thirsty, my friends!   Amy Ü

Welcome to the Pals Blog Hop, or as I’m calling it today, my nightmare! My web host decided to migrate the servers on my account two days ago and I lost a bunch of posts, and emails, and, oh, yeah, MY MIND!!!

So I’m writing this abbreviated post to show you my projects for today’s blog hop. And yes, I had a fabulous post written, and I was oh, so clever, but know we’ll never know, will we? 😉

Now before you get all excited, I know I read the prompt wrong. I was so excited about Wicked Folds that I completely ignored that I was supposed to make anything other than an A2 card. Well, Karma and all that, right?

Here’s my second project, once again, all about the folds:

So there you have it. Please enjoy the rest of the hop and I’ll see you next time, (at which point I may be behind bars or enjoying three squares at the nut house).

Decorate Plain Card Stock for a Whole New Look

Did you know you can decorate plain card stock for a whole new look just by using some stamps and ink? Well, it sure took me long enough to figure that out!

Decorate plain card stock using Paisleys and Posies

I am totally in love with this stamp set. ‘Course, I did grow up in the seventies, so it’s like deja vu all over again, as Babe Ruth would say.
